Peer Critique Assignment
Peer Critique (weighted as 5% of your course grade):† During the Informative speech round you will be assigned another class memberís speech as the subject of your critique. You will take notes during their speech and then turn in a two-page (double-spaced) critique of their speech in essay form. In each of the three graded areas (Invention, Arrangement, and Memory & Delivery) you should describe what you observed, judge whether it worked well or not, and explain why what you observed did or did not work well. Refer to the Informative Speech Evaluation Form on our website for a detailed guide on what can be included in each of these areas as a basis for evaluation.
Remember, why you find something good or bad is more important than what you judge it to be. Specific examples from the speech are needed in order to be effective criticism.
