This is how I study for lecture. Read the book, write out notes, create questions and then answer the questions. In this manner - you learn. You should note how these system integrate together. That is the take home message. E.coli will run both glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathway at the same time. One pathway produce NADH necessary for ATP production and the other produces NADPH necessary for anabolic reactions. Do know which is which?
