- Math Skills Req’d

For New Students entering the CAD & Mechanical Design Programs

Thanks for your interest in our technology programs at SCC. This is intended to increase your success rate in the field of study you have chosen. Please read the next sections and call or take appropriate actions before the start of the school year if you have any concerns.

Math Skills Requirements

The CAD Design & Drafting (CAD) Program will include two quarters of math up to the Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry level. Although the math for this program is not as intensive as for the MDT program we would recommend a student with Math scores below these levels take a refresher course before entering the program (see Michelle in the counseling office to find a good course) or plan on extra time in the Math tutor center on campus.
20 (ALEKs)

The Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) Program at Spokane Community College is math intensive and students are required to take applied math courses within the program beyond basic Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry. This is considered a high math requirement program. Therefore, we would recommend a student with Math scores below these levels take a refresher course in the APLED or Math Department before entering the program (see Michelle in the counseling center to find a good course).
 31 (ALEKs)

If your math skills do not meet these levels we would recommend that you take a refresher or introductory course in the College Prep, Applied Education, or Math Department (see John Michel or an academic advisor in the counseling office to find a good course).
